The basic necessities of life are food, clothing, shelter and sleep. Without which we do not exist. The rest is excess if you look at it philosophically on a different level. We as a society have been conditioned to consume anything and everything. But there is a definitive line between our needs and wants. The non-essential category has endless possibilities with deep seated desires following them, most of which are materialistic. In the modern era of inanimate products and materials, Humans have learned to love materials and use people. Hope we do not sell our Human emotions to materials too. Life has a meaning and a purpose without which it is a meaningless journey. We may need to differentiate between the important and the not so important aspects of our lives, so that we can lead a fruitful life.
